Early Sculpture
Marble and bronze sculptures done in my twenties.
Donna
DONNA means "woman" in Italian and is also a title of respect. The piece seeks to celebrate the nature of the feminine. The sculpture is made of Verona Marble, a deep red marble not usually used for sculpture due to the difficulty of carving. I carved the piece in Carrara, Italy over a 3 month period; it was my first major work. The sculpture’s flowing organic form uses the interplay of negative space and texture to suggest a sensitive and sensuous posture.
On display outdoors at Old Frog Pond Sculpture Walk 2017
